It was my favorite experience this weekend at the convention in Ontario, California. A gentleman approached my table with a poster to sign. He had his little girl with him. She had on big eyeglasses and braces, and her little joyful soul shone out of her like a Bright Light. As I proceeded to sign the poster, her father and I began talking. I commented on what a bright, shining star she was.
Her father then leaned over to her, and said, “Tell Dee what happens in October.” She broke into a huge smile, looked at me, and beamed. “In January, you’ll be my daddy!” “Oh, how wonderful! I bet you’re excited!” I replied. I looked at her “dad” standing next to her. He proceeded to explain how they had taken her in as foster parents, and were finally able to adopt her.
I looked at him, heart full, and said, “I love you for that.” I looked back at this sweet little angel. “I bet that makes you really happy.” “Oh yes!” she replied, “I love my mommy and daddy.” And you could tell she really meant it.
We completed our business, and I asked her if I could have a hug. She threw open her arms and we had a delicious long moment of sharing hearts. It is one of my favorite moments from this year.
Thank you, Universe! What a great pay day!
Blessings,
DEE
