When I was growing up, Easter and all its celebrations were some of my favorite memories.

I loved the rituals of our Methodist church, beginning with Passover and Good Friday through the sunrise service and breakfast on Easter Morning.

I loved the Easter Egg hunts that my parents lovingly created for us every year, and of course the new Easter Dress that somehow, with no money to spare, always managed to be bought.

I loved feeling close to God and the story of his son, and I always felt joyful at the resurrection part. The crucifixion was always hard for me. I just never understood the anger and hate.

This Easter, as in the past forty years, all my friends…old and new… gathered at my house for Easter Dinner. It is a tradition I refuse to surrender in these busy times. We ate, drank and celebrated being here for each other. We counted our blessings, and honored the story.

But the story has morphed for me into a spiritual understanding of energy. Energy that is tormented, abused and judged is set free through its own decision and choice to be reborn and, in that decision, to give rebirth to the very world it is a part of.

Let’s continue to celebrate our own rebirth story, so the Universe we are a part of morphs into its own expansion of rebirth and joy. Let us all rise up in our own freedom and bless the world.

Blessings,
Dee
