I woke up this morning from a dream where I and a bunch of friends (we were all about six years old) were playing Ring Around the Rosy.
That got me reminiscing about other childhood games we loved: Row, Row, Row Your Boat, The Wheels on the Bus, Here We Go Round the Mulberry Bush.
These simple songs created hours of laughter and childhood camaraderie. One of the things I believe we loved the most about them were their simplicity, and repetition! We sang them in “rounds” and we all knew exactly what to expect. Those songs were familiar patterns that all of us trusted.
That’s the one good thing about patterns: the familiarity they bring gives us comfort. But when we get caught in familiar patterns that DON’T serve us, yet keep us in our comfort zones, we must consciously choose to move into a new, re-defined pattern and sing that new song of revised creation. To keep returning to the thoughts, reactions and prejudices of “before,” we keep ourselves in an ongoing loop of sameness that isn’t nearly as fun as the play songs of long ago.
Where is one pattern you would like to re-write and create a new song for today? Is it about a limiting thought that keeps looping through your monkey mind? Is it an eating habit you keep repeating? A money pattern not serving you?
You have the power to recognize it and create a new game with yourself … today … right now.
Now that the world is “opening up” to us again, it’s a perfect opportunity to begin anew.
BLESSINGS,
DEE
